The Baltic Sea Anomaly

Glanke’s battered Escape Pod emerged on the far side of the galaxy. Its survival systems pointed the ship toward an unknown solar system that had a planet with oxygen—a blue planet. The ship, however, was badly damaged and its survival systems made it speed wildly toward the planet, aware its own systems could shut down at anytime. 

The Pod attempted to awaken Glanke, who had been put into a sonically induced sleep while fleeing the shock wave; but was unable to. The Escape Pod was now rapidly approaching the blue planet, and again The Pod attempted to awaken Glanke; and again, to no avail. Finally, Glanke's ship entered screaming into the atmosphere of the planet and began to burn. The friction of the fiery entry made the Pod shake uncontrollably. In a high pitched harmonic sound found in Glanke’s work suit, the Pod finally implored: “Awaken Glanke, awaken!”, and with that, Glanke's eyes opened.

The first sight that greeted Glanke was the vision of a large body of liquid looming below the ship, quickly getting closer and closer. Panicked, Glanke struggled to gain control of the Pod and was aghast to see its controls so heavily damaged. Again and again, Glanke tried every possible configuration, until finally, just before impact, Glanke managed to pull the ship level as it hit the surface making it swim horizontally through the liquid. Glanke was relieved to see the liquid was water.

As the the Escape Pod slowed down scraping the sandy floor, it finally came to a stop. They were well below the surface. The Pod automatically dispatched a distress signal, to summon a Rescue Team. It should be just a matter of time before a team would come and rescue them, thought Glanke. When the ship began to teeter and pitch uncontrollably, its survival system magnetically pulled up material underneath to steady it. And again, everything went dark.

The Baltic Sea Anomaly: The Escape of Glanke II

Glanke

Glanke could hear other Antens singing in “high-notes”. On Glanke’s Home Planet, Flala, the Antens often “sing” by extending and connecting their Gaarlon Mouth to those of other Antens’. Together, sharing breathes they sing in high-notes that are made as they attempt to make a louder, harmonic sound called the Usepping Sound. Almost all Antens do this when they’re happy and communing.

The singers were gazing at the beautiful spectacle of gigantic Flala from the vantage point of her tiny moon called Nia. Nia was even more oxygen-rich than Flala, and was Glanke’s favorite of her four moons.

It was a peaceful evening and the bright-blue light of Flala made Glanke, united with the others, sing very high notes indeed—actually achieving the Usepping Sound. Glanke was overcome by the feeling of well-being.

Then, Glanke heard other sounds; they were also strange and enticing. They seemed to be coming from Flala. It was as if Flala herself was talking to Glanke—which of course was impossible. Then something amazing happened, Glanke actually heard Flala speak: “Awaken Glanke, awaken!”.

The Baltic Sea Anomaly: The Escape of Glanke I

Glanke was working outside, in-space, repairing a disabled Anten Tracking Station, when the work suit indicated an urgent message was coming in. But for some reason, the transmission was garbled. This time was different, though, because the message was coming from a rarely used channel, so it must have been critical. Not being able to hear it clearly, startled Glanke.

Glanke knew an enormous shock-wave from the Great Bortaan Cataclysm was about to engulf the entire sector; but was also expected to pass safely outside the Shield. This was was no longer true, in fact the message was now clear, and loudly proclaimed a “catastrophic Shield failure” had occurred, and to take "precautionary measures". "Precautionary measures?" thought Glanke.

Suddenly, Glanke was abruptly grabbed and thrust into the bay of an Emergency Escape Pod and whisked-off into space. As the Pod accelerated to outrun the lethal shock-wave, Glanke noticed it was acting strangely and attempted to gain control. The Pod began to shake uncontrollably, violently throwing Glanke around. Then everything went dark.
